There is no silhouette beside me
I stand alone
In a field of lavender I walk with bare feet in the earth
I see desperation in those around me
Longing for a shadow in the dark
They will accept a warped
Mirrored version
Of the one they need
Survival resides in companionship
One cannot survive on their own
I stand in my solitude
With my face to the sunlight
With the moon on my back
Where lily is my name and the oceans pull is my lullaby
I lay in the grass, the cool between my grasping toes
And my breath revived
The light yellow from my porch and silver from the night sky
I rant to the moon
I tell her of my journeys
The stories of my day
Trivial and meaningless
But full of the life she dreams of and the one I must embrace
I walk the desert in rags and without water
I face survival alone and I am stronger for it
I trust myself to carry on
Fire become flesh and eyes of mercy
I walk with an army beside me
And angels in my head
My masses rise when I am in isolation
Harm me
I will bleed
And my blood will form oceans to drown your ships
I will rack your fields and your crops will form forests
I am she who strides the earth alone
I have no silhouette beside me
I succeed in isolation and in company
I am a gunshot in a storm
The adaptable cannot succumb
I am the conscience of a forgotten war
I am eternal birth
Carry on my dear for we sing for you still
We sing
